EXPLORING THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE:
An Ethnographic Study of Atlanta's Hip-Hop Strip Clubs

This research project delves into the vibrant cultural phenomenon of Atlanta's hip-hop culture, originating to a great extend from specific strip clubs. The extensive research seeked to understand the interplay between music, dance, gender dynamics in performance spaces and the urban environment. Methods contained an ethnographic approach and examined the social and cultural dynamics within these unique establishments, aiming to shed light on the experiences of performers, patrons, and the overall atmosphere of these venues.

By engaging with key stakeholders and employing participant observation, interviews, and audio-visual documentation, the research provided nuanced insights and extended participation into the multifaceted dimensions of hip-hop strip club culture in Atlanta.

A field research that originally intended to contribute to the broader understanding of urban subcultures, nightlife, and the intersection of art, entertainment, and society, eventually morphed to an exhibition during the first pandemic lockdown in Bern, Switzerland.
